Van der Valk is a family company that started
in the year 1939 when Martien van der Valk Senr. converted the
gin mill De Gouden Leeuw into a hotel. It was his
ambition to give each of his eleven children their own
hotel.
Meanwhile the entire Van der Valk
group comprises 90 establishments in
the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Spain, USA
(Florida) and the Dutch Antilles. And the group is still
expanding with a few new establishments a
year. As was the case with the first hotels,
nearly all present establishment are owned by family members.
Part of the group is also wineshop "de Gouden Leeuw ", the
central warehouse and a ice cream & snacks wholesale
business in Voorschoten.
The formula is based on "unambiguousness
and affordability." The logo has the image of a toucan. The bird
park Avifauna in Alphen aan den Rijn that was purchased by the
family, already used the toucan. The decision was made to use it
for all the other hotels and restaurants within the group. Nowadays
one will also see the family arms as logo.
The van der Valk Hotel Rotterdam-Blijdorp was
established in June 2010.The hotel comprises 189 rooms, a
restaurant with 120 seats and a bar, Furthermore our hotel offers 8
modern multifunctional halls that can be used for both business and

hospitality and professionality come first.
